Case Studies - Federation of Protestant
Welfare Agencies Welfare Reform Network

The Welfare Reform Network is a coalition of hundreds of anti-poverty organ- izations including social service providers; welfare, hunger, and housing advocates; grassroots organizations; legal advocacy groups and welfare recipients. WRN is an effective and welcoming forum to share information, plan strategy, conduct policy analysis and implement advocacy. Dedicated to fighting the devastating consequences of poverty, the Federation of Protestant Welfare Agencies has hosted WRN since its 1990 inception. Upon losing their lead staff, office space and funding, the core steering committee of WRN asked SEED for assistance to help figure out how to survive the next three months. SEED delivered a half-day workshop that also assisted members to reconnect with their passion and the vision that brought them together, to recognize their history of best achievements and the skills and resources already in their possession. They are now in pursuit of funding and staff to realize an exciting long-term mission.

"It was one of the most satisfying retreats I have ever attended … it helped participants bond more closely ... and crystallized ... that WRN is an essential coalition that must not be lost."

"The critical paradigm shift I believe you offer nonprofits is to help them get out of a philosophy of scarcity into one of abundance, thriving and with a clear recognition of their assets and what they have to offer."

"I am so very impressed by your integrity and amazingly transformational optimism, and the way you transfuse each process … with those characteristics."
